The monstrous Devil of the gloomy Moria pantheon is hideous and flame-wreathed, his powerful frame creased with thick scales, pebbled by scar and gristle. His twisted form is outlined by flightless wings, knobby structures of heavy bone and cartilage webbed by leathery veils of thick membrane.
The Balrog, scaring even the creepy wall-crawling orcs away, plagued Gandalf and the gang as they struggled through moldering archways and tentatively crossed the crumbling bridge in the Fellowship of the Ring film.
