5 Day Competent Crew/Day Skipper Sailing Course - Gifts

Experience a sense of achievement and gain a Royal Yachting Association Qualification

The competent crew course assumes no prior knowledge at all. You will be taught all the necessary seamanship skills, including helming, sail setting & trimming, knots, etc. to enable you to be a confident member of a crew on an offshore yacht. Alternatively the Day Skipper course assumes knowledge to the level of Competent Crew. It is for those who wish to start to expand their skills by introducing navigation, pilotage, etc. There are assessment papers during this course.

AGENDA - Both courses are of 5 days or 3 weekends duration and will contain at least 100 miles and 4 night hours. An RYA certificate is issued on satisfactory completion of the Theory Course and Practical Courses. The intricacies of the courses will be explained to you on arrival.

NOTES - On purchasing this experience you will be sent an open dated gift voucher with 10 months validity. The courses are based in the Solent which is an ideal training ground for all levels. There are only four students to each course, thereby ensuring that you get the attention that you are paying for.

The operator also runs an "early to rise" policy and plan to be on the water by eight each morning ... after all you are paying to be sailing! The time you finish depends upon how much you have covered, the weather conditions and, most importantly, how tired you are getting! But they try to ensure that there is time for a run ashore and to explore a little.

The operator will provide foul weather gear and sleeping bags for those who don't have them, at no extra cost, and would like to point out that their prices are all inclusive. The only extra cost is when you undertake an RYA examination. The Competant Crew course is designed so that, upon completion, you will have sufficient theory to enable you to complete the Day Skipper Practical Course and thus continue on the route towards being a master yachtsman.
